We absolutely loved having Alana as our night baby nurse. She was caring, reliable, and wonderful with both of our babies. She was especially patient and nurturing with one of our babies who was very colicky, and she was amazing at soothing and comforting her. She gave us peace of mind and helped us get much-needed rest. We are so grateful for her help and would highly recommend her!

Alana was a true blessing for us. We hired her when our baby was 2 weeks old and we were feeling overwhelmed. She not only allowed us to get some much needed sleep, but taught us so much. She helped us feel confident as new parents and even helped me figure out how to increase my breastmilk production and develop a pumping schedule that worked for me. She has helped our baby learn to sleep longer stretches at night and helped us through a couple really rough weeks when the baby had bad gas. We rehired her after our initial contract was done. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a night nanny. She is trustworthy, knowledgeable, and truly loves caring for babies. Our daughter's face lights up when she sees Alana (and so do ours).

Alana was a great help as a night nurse for our 2 month old. She helped us navigate a difficult patch with his reflux, and took a compassionate and caring approach to watching over him. She took detailed notes on his nighttime schedule and provided guidance to help him achieve longer stretches of sleep at night. Our 2 month old loved Alana and was all smiles with her! 

Alana has truly been a godsend! Finding someone who is warm, knowledgeable, and reliable to care for my newborn - especially as a new Mom - was so nerve-wracking, but all of that melted away from my first call with Alana. She has been with us since the beginning, taking care of my newborn at night so that I can rest. Alana has had the magic touch and excellent know-how and communication in getting my baby on a schedule and keeping me looped in on baby's progress. I've been able to recover knowing that my baby is in the best hands. Alana has gone above and beyond from the beginning - I cannot recommend her highly enough and hope that she's available if I have another baby!

Alana started nannying for us part time when our baby was very colicky and had trouble with eating and sleeping, and she has been with us for the past 6 months. Our son is now beginning day care with us both back at work. She is so good with our baby, always singing, reading, chatting, and playing. He tends to be shy with people outside of the family, but she gets him laughing and babbling. She has a good understanding of infant development and always gave us advice when we asked for it without forcing it on us (as some might try to do with first-time parents). We appreciate how flexible she was with scheduling when appointments popped up during her scheduled hours. The past few months would have been so much harder without Alana's help!

Alana is amazing and has been so so helpful in getting ALL of us more sleep. She helped us figure out a (flexible) daytime and bedtime routine that got her to 10-12 hours in a flash and with very few tears so far. We love that “cry it out” is a last resort and really appreciate how her recommendations are flexible and she can adjust based on C’s (and our) preferences. 

She is also just a wonderful person and C absolutely adores her. Any family would be extremely lucky to have their child in her care. 

We have 2 month old twin girls, and we hired Alana to be a night nanny for them.  She was absolutely fantastic.  Not only did Alana work well with our little chubsters, but she did so much to provide us with useful, practical knowledge.  It was Alana who helped us clean up their schedule.  it was Alana who helped us create a routine and bring structure to bedtime.  Honestly, can't speak highly enough about it.  If you're looking for help with your new babies, Alana should be at the top of your list. 

We hired Alana as a full time nanny for our three month old son. She started on a trial basis and made a good first impression. We were in a tight spot, followed our intuition, and offered her the position. As a nanny Alana is probably okay: 3 stars, or maybe 2.5 stars rounded up. Within her first week of full-time work, however, it became clear that as an EMPLOYEE Alana is extremely problematic.

For a bit of background, we are experienced parents. (The baby's older sister is a second grader and not in need of a nanny.) Both parents have the flexibility of working from home, and would be available for minor assistance with our son as needed. Most importantly mom would be able to nurse the baby throughout the day instead of needing to pump and freeze large quantities of milk. Alana's job was to be the extra pair of hands needed to attend to the baby, to ensure that he gets fresh air, and help us get him onto a regular schedule. The first day was off to a good start. On her second day, Alana arrived with a heating pad strapped to her abdomen and spent most of the day on the couch sighing and groaning. She was too cramped to work; the extra pair of hands we wanted were mostly engaged with pointing and delegating tasks to the parents: "could you bring me my water bottle? could you change his diaper for me?" and so on. Needless to say we were both puzzled by her behavior, but everyone deserves the benefit of doubt, and the next day would be a new one. And on her third day Alana called in sick.

One thing that Alana did understand is the importance of transitioning a newborn on to a regular schedule. We also acknowledge that, with our son, this task was more difficult than for most babies. We had already started the process before Alana arrived and could help coach her with his cues and what works. In any case flexibility is paramount: if the baby is not responding to one approach, another is needed. Flexibility, however, is not among Alana tools. Rigidity better describes her. As her efforts to get our son on to a schedule over the period failed to bear results, she grew visibly frustrated and even surly. Besides rigidity, other problematic traits in her character began to surface: she can be argumentative, obstinate, demanding and bossy. The requests and criticisms issuing from her grew ever more strident and baffling as days progressed. "Your floors are too hard. When are you going to start him on formula? Your bed is too uncomfortable to sit on. Did you bring me a soup? The shades in your bedroom are all wrong. What do you mean there's no garbage can in the bathroom? Don't interfere when I'm trying to shush him! But my lunch break is twelve-thirty to one! Where's my smoothie?"

Even our building's super was dumbfounded at the attitude Alana displayed when coming and going.

After a couple weeks Alana's ability to follow direction continued to degrade and it was not clear whether she was acting out of stubbornness or contempt. Her every response was punctuated with some microaggressions – rolling her eyes or sighing and mumbling under her breath. We started to grow concerned for the wellbeing of our son in her care. The culmination was an argument in our apartment where she continually interrupted, talked over one of us, and grew increasingly volatile. That weekend we parted ways.

As a new parent there is nothing more valuable than peace of mind knowing your child is well cared for by someone who cares.  Alana is a highly experienced newborn specialist, meticulous, communicative and a wonderful resource to learn from as a new Mom.  

My baby girl loves Alana, my extraordinary picky senior mother loves Alana and I *adore* Alana because I know if she’s visiting my baby is cared for just as I would it if not even better.  Alana’s standard of care is impeccable!

I appreciate Alana is always happy to chat or share a laugh but also great at reading the room and knows when to slip away to care for your baby in the next room.  A true professional!! 

Alana makes leaving our newborn with a babysitter easy. She swooped right in and left us worry free for the night with our newborn and our toddler. 

I hired Alana for a couple months this summer to help me with the care of my sleep deprived 2 month old. With her help I was able to get my baby to nap regularly and on a feeding schedule. She was very knowledgeable, patient, and attentive to my baby's needs. Her expertise gave me much-needed peace of mind during this precious and challenging time. We hired Alana as a night nurse for our 1month old baby and we were so happy with the care and professionalism she showed our family.  Alana is a real pro with newborn care and taught us a lot.  We highly recommend working with Alana. 

Alana was great to work with- her expertise with newborns and toddlers is extensive. While pregnant with my second child, she was helpful in re-sleep training my toddler. I can now say she confidently sleeps through the night in her own room. Alana was also great as a night nurse for the first few weeks with my newborn- feedings, diaper changes, cleaning/sterilizing bottles, and really allowing us additional sleep during the transition. Alana is a reliable, caring, and knowledgeable caregiver and I wholeheartedly recommend her!  

We had Alana nanny our child from 1 month to 13 months. Her experience with children that age helps both development and the ease of our worries raising a child in the center of a large city. She was able to recommend solid food transitions, sleep training, and teething solutions.

We enjoy working with Alana very much. She is punctual and handles our child with care meeting all of his needs. She is very personable and dependable. We will continue working with her as a recurring sitter.
