About Alexandra

I am a 24-year-old recent graduate who loves to lend a helping hand. According to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, I am an ESFJ (extrovert, sensing, feeling, judging). ESFJ's are known to be caregivers and people-persons. This definitely holds true to the type of person that I am. I began baby-sitting while in high school. As a 17-year-old, I watched my neighbors' children who ranged from 4 to 12. It was in high school when I also began tutoring other high schoolers in the subjects of math, science, and English. Going to college, I yearned to continue my human connection, and began to baby-sit my boss's two daughters (who at the time were 3 and 5--I watched them until I graduated and they were 5 and 7). Also while in school, I tutored college athletes and peers in the subjects of science and English. Post-college, I continued baby-sitting for my mentor-pediatrician's children (3 and 5) and for relatives' children (ages range from 1 to 17). I still baby-sit for relatives every now and then, and am currently a physics and organic chemistry tutor at Dominican University. I am very comfortable taking care of children and I enjoy making a rapport with them, while taking time to teach them a few lessons (especially when they need help with homework)! I am an extremely responsible and orderly person, yet I understand that children need a balanced life with enthusiasm and fun elements, too. I am used to watching 2 children at a time (I've watched 3 and 5-year-olds, as well as 1 and 3-year-olds). However, I have had experience watching 5 children at one time, and wouldn't mind taking up that challenge. I have done volunteer work with children with special needs during and after college. Though I have not worked with them one on one, I am willing to learn what I would need to do to provide the best care to those individuals. I look forward to serving you in any way that will make things for you simpler!
