As someone who has been working in family homes for years as a nanny, I've often been there to help take care of family pets as well as the children. Being comfortable with dog and cat of various breeds, sizes, and temperaments is an integral part of my day job. In the past year I've started to also pet sit for families, first with my sister (who works in vet medicine and has been doing pet sitting for the last several years), and now on my own.
