About Amanda

I love caring for people, especially children. I grew up the second child of 6, and loved caring for my younger siblings. I started babysitting for neighbors & families in my church at age 12. I was a nanny for my infant nephew during my senior year of high school. In college, I worked for a middle/high school after-school program, providing tutoring, recreation, & mentoring. After college, I moved to Tanzania, Africa & was the live-in director for an orphanage, providing 24-7 care for 40 children (ages 4-16). Since returning, I have been trained in literacy with the Orton-Gillingham method through IMSE, and tutored children k-6th grade. I also began working with my 3 yr old nephew & at 4 yrs old he was tested to be on a 1st grade reading level. I love babies, toddlers, & children of all ages. I love to help children learn to grow, be active, be responsible, learn to read, and explore the world around them so that life is an adventure.
