About Andrew

I recently graduated from University of Minnesota with a M. Ed in social studies education. I have lived and traveled all over the United States and abroad, and am an avid outdoor enthusiast. I bring this sense of adventure and discovery to learning. I focus my teaching practices on developing students' interpersonal skills, critical analysis skills, and literacy. I utilize many different types of media including art, music, poetry, literature, digital media, videos and more because students must be able to interact with a wide range of information in their lives. I believe that coaching scholars to build communication skills helps widen their worldview, allowing scholars to analyze information from many different perspectives. This analysis allows them to form their own independent thought processes that will guide their work in future studies. Finally, developing literacy skills prepares scholars to seek out their own sources, information, and cultural competency.
