She is a kind, sweet person who interacted well with our son, and he felt comfortable with her. She got him to school and picked him up on the days she worked, helped with homework on one occasion, and also spent some recreational time with him. Our experience was mixed, however. During much of the time when our son was sleeping or otherwise occupied, there was quite a bit of downtime, and we observed that much of it was spent on her phone rather than taking initiative with light household tasks or preparing things for our son. We didn't hire her primarily for housekeeping, so I want to be fair, but there were several hours during the day when relatively little needed to be done, and we would have appreciated more initiative. We also requested an enhanced screening that included a driving record. She told us she had given consent, but the system still showed that the required consent had not been completed, and we ultimately never received the screening/driving report. I cannot say why that happened, but it remained unresolved while she worked for us. Our main concern was dependability. During the interview, she told us she was available for the schedule we needed, but shortly afterward some of those dates changed because of family circumstances. We accommodated those changes and gave her the time off she requested. Unfortunately, before that period ended, she told us she could no longer continue working for us, again because of family circumstances. Since we had spent considerable time finding and arranging childcare around her stated availability, the sudden change left us needing replacement care on short notice. Overall, she was pleasant and caring with our son, and we had no concerns about how she treated him. Our concerns were mainly the level of initiative she showed during the workday, the unresolved screening process, and whether we could depend on her availability long-term.
