About Charlotte

Hi, I'm Charlotte! I'm 24 yrs old and recently moved to Portland after serving with Peace Corps Zambia. My experience there motivated me to pursue nursing so I'm currently completing my prerequisite courses online. I love working with children as I believe we have as much to learn from them as we have to teach. I grew up attending a small K-8 community school in Vermont where I began babysitting the younger students I spent my school days working beside. From the country to city, I continued babysitting throughout college in D. C. and later tutoring in Brooklyn, NY. Most recently, I've been working with children in my village in Zambia. There were little opportunities for kids to engage in self expression so I focused my time on encouraging arts and empowerment. Throughout all my experiences, I've learned that children everywhere are quite alike. They are individuals with a desire to be understood and supported. In my roles, I've done my best to meet those universal needs.
