My Grandmother came to live with my family from New York when I was a teenager and while I was constantly on the go being a kid. I look back now and am so grateful I had that extra time with her. Later when she could not be cared for by my Mom in our home. It was just too much for my Mom who was herself in her sixties. My Grandmother went into a Nursing Home. I was glad to know she was being cared for but heartbroken I could not do it being young and single. I would visit and she thought I was her sister so she would talk and talk about her adventures when "we" were younger. Now as I am a Mom and I grow older myself, I miss her more and more. She was the only grandparent I knew. I enjoy older folks in my life, for their wisdom, stories and they remind me of my Nanny (corny but true). I am in the midst of changes in my own life, putting my family ahead of a "career" and want to do something I feel good about as well as be able to provide extra income for my family.
