Experience: 3 yrs
My experience with child care began at young children's camp as both a counselor, and as a housekeeping member for several months. I was responsible for a number of children at once, not only in regards to their safety and care, but also in making sure they were consistently entertained, and involved with activity. After graduating high school in 2010, I pursued fashion designing in Boston. Living completely independent, I really stretched myself and was introduced to my adventurous side! In 2012, I decided that fashion was not what I wanted to pursue, so I concentrated on my work in a retail store. I moved up in my company, and was relocated from Boston to Newport, RI for about 6 months. While I loved Newport, I quickly realized I did not want to make a career of retail management, and I wanted to see the world! I had always loved children, so Au pairing was the perfect solution for me! I found a family near Milan, Italy with their 6-month-old daughter, and was set to leave in May. To make some "quick cash" before my trip, I found a housekeeping opportunity with a woman, whom I connected with so well, she decided to make me her personal assistant. I left for Italy as planned, for three months and had the most amazing time traveling, and learning a new language and culture. When I returned to Boston that August, I continued my work as a personal assistant, and decided to start taking classes at college via the extension school. The following spring of 2013, I once again made my way to Italy, and while taking classes online, was the nanny for a 2-year-old little girl who lived with her family on the French Riviera. I returned to Boston once again after my three months with that family and spent the summer working full-time with my boss as a personal assistant. That fall, I continued taking courses on campus, and working. Spring of 2014, I was once again Europe Bound! I spent the month of January with my first Italian family and their (now nearly 3-year-old girl, and 7-month-old little boy!) children. I was then off to Prague, Czech Republic, for a semester abroad! During my time from February to end of May, I had the opportunity to travel all over Europe! It was a life changing experience! August to November of 2014, I was able to return to my first family in Italy and and their (now two) kids ( almost 3 years and 18 months) to be their nanny. I am now primarily Columbia, MD based, and enrolled part-time with Harvard, via online courses. My schedule is relatively flexible, however, I do have one course this semester which requires me to be on campus in Cambridge, every Wednesday evening!
