Experience: 10 yrs
Years ago I served as a two-year aide for an 8-year-old boy with autism. This experience proved to be an insightful and rewarding challenge that in turn inspired my continued positions working with children. I went on to serve as the assistant coordinator for my church's childcare program. I take great pride and joy in helping children grow and learn. Over the past few years I have rediscovered this passion through substitute teaching in the general Hartford area public schools. Most of my work as a substitute has been in Special Education, Art and Music. A 2008 graduate with a Bachelor's in Fine Arts, you will find that I enjoy being creative and motivating others' creativity as well. Currently I am working towards my master's degree in Special Education with a concentration in Autism Spectrum Disorders. I also work part-time as a mentor. I am patient, outgoing, and goal-oriented. I also love being outside and inspiring others to do the same!
Liz has worked as a mentor in our social and recreation programs for teens and adults with Asperger's syndrome, high functioning autism and PDD Nos. She is very responsible, organized and personable. She has good understanding of the social and emotional issues that face these young people and she works effectively with them. She is always kind, respectful and reliable.
