Experience: 10 yrs
My first caregiving positions were helping two women who had advanced Alzheimer's doing private one-on-one care. I didn't have any formal training, but I am a good problem solver, and can adapt to new situations and have good instincts. Then I did live in caregiving for my uncle for a couple of years after he had a stroke, that was such a wonderful experience, he wasn't able to speak, so I became an expert at reading his body language, and he loved my cooking. He needed care with a catheter, and eventually needed 100% assistance. I then did 14 years of professional cooking and kitchen management. My standards were always very high, so my goal for each meal was to make the highest quality food, that tasted like you went to a nice restaurant, and was seasoned with lots of love. I got back into caregiving when a family friend was put on hospice, and then continued to get one position after another through word of mouth, all special and unique, with varying levels of care.
I’ve known Elizabeth to be wise and kind, knowledgeable and thoughtfully present whether she’s caring for children or elders. She’s giving, compassionate and trustworthy as a person and fun to be around!
