About Elyse

In the past, I have worked as an as-needed babysitter, as well as spending a summer as a nanny for a 6-year-old girl, where my duties included some basic tutoring in reading skills and also looking after her two older brothers (8 and 10) when they arrived home from camp. Other duties included transportation to art classes for her and supervision for all three at the pool. For the past 18 months, I was working at a nonprofit school where I learned how to use systems of reinforcement as a means to teach children with autism academic, social, and personal care skills. I enjoyed and excelled at teaching, managing, and bonding with each student I worked with. I graduated from UCONN in 2010 with a BA in psychology and English with plans to attend graduate school for developmental psychology in the near future. For now I am taking online courses in Applied Behavior Analysis and am looking to continue to work with children with and without special needs. I am also certified in first aid and CPR. I enjoy sewing and knitting as well as other kinds of crafts. I enjoy activities outdoors, reading, and games. I own three cats and do like dogs.
