I'd describe my personality as extroverted, compassionate, and warm! I enjoy working with children because it allows me to create a fun, nurturing, and enriching environment that supports their development. I am seeking a position with a family that values a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where children can grow and thrive. I started working with kids professionally when I was 15 as a babysitter and nanny. I found my passion working with kids through teaching dance, gymnastics, and swim lessons. In my spare time, I am a professional contemporary dancer and enjoy baking, reading, embroidering, and caring for my pet bunny. I enjoy incorporating engaging activities into childcare, whether it's baking simple treats like Rice Krispie bars or coloring fun designs. When working with infants, I enjoy singing, reading books, and going on walks to get fresh air! My skills include daily care and routine management, emotional support and guidance, and child development knowledge.
Emily has been a light in the life of my child and our family for 1.5 years now. During this time she was responsible for our toddler from 21 months - 39 months, where she not only excelled at her explicit duties but also brought new meaning to the role of a nanny. Emily joined us at a very busy time in our lives and as a result she figured out much on her own and we were very impressed with her decisiveness and the quality of her choices. This great natural instinct paired with her wonderful personality evolved into a fun and diverse routine of activities that brought great joy to our child’s life while also harmonizing with our expectations for our child’s safety, sleep, and diet. After about 4 months we finally took the time to write to her about some changes we’d like to make, and she took them with utter grace and competence. Her detailed response to our letter (email) revealed to us a deep intention and conscientiousness that gave us great peace. This pattern of competence, intention, and productive communication are simply a part of who Emily is! A word about her character and affect - Emily is youthful, kind hearted, fun loving and truly a wonderful companion for a toddler. When she’s with our child Emily is totally engaged, stepping into imaginative play and allowing it to evolve. She has a steady temperament and has great command of her emotions, keeping cool even in difficult interactions. Her default position is one of empathy and grace, but she’s also able to give clear corrections and say “no”. Another cool thing, I’ve never once found her on her phone - it’s always on the counter or in her bag - but she wears an Apple Watch so she’s super fast to see our comms and respond - it has been a delight. Emily is also a person of great moral character - doing the right thing matters to her and it shows in her speech and behavior. Our toddler has been a precocious speaker for a long time so we’ve paid attention to what Emily says to her - especially when saying no or providing a correction or even just discussing right and wrong - always we are pleased with her choice of words. A few final thoughts. We trusted Emily from the very beginning to drive our child in the car - we had a sense about her as a very careful and dutiful person and have seen that she is a very safe defensive driver. As a result Emily created a wonderful schedule involving fun spots around town that brought great joy and memories. Emily adapts well and implements changes quickly and effectively - and she knows how to push back if there’s something we don’t fully understand about the situation. Finally she is simply a wonderful presence in our home - we love her and she will always be like family to us. She has been a gift and a light and we are eternally grateful for her. Happy to speak on the phone about this in more detail.
