About Hannah

I earned my M. A in Special Education(SPED)and am certified to teach k-12 grades. I was an elementary SPED teacher for 3 years at a DC charter school, and in 2016 became a private tutor and stay-at-home mom in Leesburg. During my masters program, I was a co-teacher in a 5th grade classroom and loved teaching middle school students. I am very passionate about SPED and have had the great fortune of teaching students with varied learning differences, ranging from minor reading challenges to students with severe Autism. I minored in art as an undergraduate, and incorporate the arts into the learning process whenever possible. My teaching philosophy is grounded in Howard Gardner's Multiple intelligence theory which focuses on the social, academic, physical, and emotional development of each child. My personality is warm, kind, fun, and patient; and I am an impactful teacher because I connect with my students by recognizing and embracing their strengths as a learner.
