Experience: 10 yrs
Professionally I have served as a personal nanny, tutor and was the assistant director of a Sylvan Learning Center. I was able to use my 2 years of education training as a regular assistant in both the general and neuro-diverse classrooms for several years. I have also homeschooled my older children for several years. I am easy going, dependable, prompt and respectful. Our family, which includes my husband, young adult son and teen daughter, enjoys aviation, hiking, and birding. I am also enamored with old houses! Facilitating kids' interests and nurturing autonomy within bounds and calculated risk taking are beliefs I hold strongly, as well as my Christian faith. Due to health concerns I cannot lift over 30lbs or work in a home where occupants smoke or vape. I do withhold nanny taxes as required by law if contracted on a retainer or regular schedule with pay that equals 3k+ a year. My contract lays out the easy steps needed if you don't have an employer tax id set up already.
Heidi was absolutely wonderful! She arrived early/on time with a warm smile and welcoming personality. From the beginning, she was kind, receptive, and easy to communicate with. I took some time to explain my son’s routine and what he needed, and she was very attentive and comfortable with everything. She was amazing with my almost 3-year-old son. She helped wake him up, took him potty, changed his pull-up, prepared his breakfast, and followed the flexible routine I provided. She read him lots of books, helped him with puzzles, colored a coloring sheet with him, sang songs, and spent plenty of time playing and exploring outside with him. What I especially appreciated was how engaged she was. She didn’t simply supervise him while he played. She actively played, talked, read, sang, explored, and interacted with him. She also prepared his lunch, cleaned up lunch, activities, and helped transition him into quiet time and his nap. He went down for his nap happily and without any issues. She also was very kind to and comfortable with our dog! As a mom who is currently recovering from surgery, one of the biggest things I appreciated was that I genuinely felt comfortable resting without needing to supervise or step in. She communicated clearly, asked questions when needed, and was very attentive to my son. I also really appreciated that we share Christian values. That was meaningful and relieving to me because faith and character are important to our family, and they are what our activities are centered around. Her experience as a mother and homeschooler really showed in the way she interacted with my son and kept him engaged throughout the day. She truly went above and beyond, and I couldn’t have asked for a better first experience. I would absolutely hire her again and would gladly recommend her to another family. I actually wish she were available to work with us more regularly!
