About Jackie

I have done home health care for the past 4 years. I took care of a sweet lady who was 104 in her passing for 2 years. I was responsible for aiding her in her personal care, preparing her meals, attending her while she used her walker. I provided one on one companionship to her on a daily basis. My last and most recent job involved caring for a gentleman who was 95, a life long farmer in my area. He lost his leg after falling out of bed while in the hospital after suffering from a stroke. He had many prior operations on his legs because of the hardship of farming for many years. While in the hospital they had to amputate one of his legs. He was also hard of hearing and his eyesight was very poor. He had special needs, of course, and was totally dependent upon his family and caregivers. I had to bath and dress him daily as well as use a slide board to transfer him from his bed to a wheelchair. I prepared his meals and attended to his needs. I loved spending time with both and listening to stories about their lives. It gave me great joy to realize I made a real difference in their lives. We became very close. I was really touched by both of them.
