Greetings, My name is James , and I am writing to make known my interest in tutoring students. I am a 24 year veteran math teacher and instructional coach. I have taught middle and high school math, and I hold a level II PA certification in mathematics, grades 7-12. I am also experienced with online learning platforms. As an educator, I bring a unique combination of content knowledge, compassion, pedagogical expertise, humor, and a love of teaching. I understand that education is based on building trusting relationships with students and families. My gift is an ability to meet students where they are; not just academically, but where they are regarding their attitudes toward math, and building motivation. My daughter was really struggling academically in her senior year of high school and we were worried that she may not pass. Her school suggested additional tutoring and connected us with Mr. James W. From the first day that he worked with my daughter, we both had a huge sense of relief. He not only helped her with staying focused and organized but offered instruction with friendliness, patience, and expertise in what he was teaching. Because of Mr. W's professionalism and pleasant demeanor, we were always happy to welcome him into our home. And when the pandemic came along to shake up everyone's routine, Mr. W had no trouble making himself available virtually. I am happy to report that my daughter successfully graduated high school in 2020 and strongly believe that without the help that Mr. W. was able to provide, the outcome would likely have been much different.
