My grandmother spent the last year or so of her life suffering from frontal lobal dementia. We had her in a lovely nursing facility, but the nurses are just so overworked she wasn't being tended to as much as I would have liked. So I spent most of the time with her. Naturally, I love my grandmother, but I loved being in that element. Recently, I needed to care for my father (in my home/in-law). He suffered a massive stroke and had vascular dementia. I was unhappy with the help we were getting from agencies so I cared for him myself. Most rewarding time in my life. He needed assistance with ambulation, meds, bathing, feeding, etc. I grew up visiting my other grandmother and aunts in nursing homes. It was never a chore for me. I have always had a soft spot for the elderly.
