About Jess

Jess has been our daughter's full-time nanny for 3 years from ages 2-5. The only reason she’s looking for a new gig is that our daughter is headed to Kindergarten this fall and we don’t have enough hours for her once that begins. Otherwise, if it was up to us, she’d just be her nanny forever! Jess is reliable, dependable, collaborative, punctual, consistent, flexible, and easy to communicate with. She both integrates our parenting philosophy (respectful parenting with strong guardrails), and leverages her own experience to help our daughter grow and evolve in a way for which I will be forever appreciative. She built a strong, loving bond with our daughter from day 1 with support for her deep emotional, social, and practical skills. She has a knack for turning things into a game when helpful, intuiting when quiet stillness is what’s needed, and a million other permutations. She is always steady, calm, and patient, even when our daughter isn’t. She helped us with everything from potty training, to creative and playful projects, to using silverware, to pickups from playgroup and then preschool, to helping facilitate our daughter’s friendships, to helping her clean up and contribute to the household. She has also been a supportive and thoughtful sounding board for me in motherhood as I navigate overcoming my own childhood to create the kind of environment we really want for our only kid. She has approached this role with a true sense of collaboration, which is exactly what I’d hoped for. My husband and I always felt that our daughter was safe with her, and she made sure to check in with us with regard to expectations around boundaries, rules, safety, and inevitable minor injuries so that we were on the same page. She is a great communicator, and I always felt informed and up to date on what happened throughout the day whether they were here at home, or elsewhere. We both work from home, which can make transitions challenging since we come and go regularly, but Jess helped create an atmosphere that made everything easier, keeping an upbeat attitude the whole time. We wholeheartedly recommend her, and would hire her again in a heartbeat if our situation allowed. She is truly like family. We hope to be connected to her forever, and cherish the memories she has been a part of creating during this incredible moment in our lives.
