About Jess

Jess worked for us as a nanny for our two children (currently age 5 and 7) for more than two years. She was an invaluable addition to our family team and has developed wonderful relationships with us and our kids. When it comes to care for the kids, Jess excels in every way. She brings a joyful, positive, respectful, and playful approach to her relationships. Jess cares for the social and emotional development of the kids and uses strategies grounded in her values of respect, love, dignity, and the inherent worth of all humans. She is very safety-aware and balances allowing children to explore and take age-appropriate risks. Jess pays attention to how the children are growing and changing so she can adjust her approach to meet their needs. Jess is really thoughtful about developing routines and planning for things like weather and snacks. For example, she planned trips to the zoo and a hike so that each day had a fun activity. For bigger stretches of time, like summer break, she developed “themes” for each day. It was a creative and memorable routine, so that each day had some predictability and flexibility. For example, “Water Wednesday” were days for swimming or being at the river; “Thankful Thursday” were days for going to the farmers market and exploring all the wonderful foods, flowers, and crafts. In her relationship with us, Jess exhibits strong communication skills, reliability, and flexibility whenever feasible. She engages in collaborative problem solving and pays attention to any issues that we may need to be aware of (for example, do the kids seem like they are getting a cold? or is there an issue that came up at preschool that we should talk to them about?). Jess is a lifelong learner and shares resources and ideas to support the children. We have monthly “family meetings” that help us plan and address bigger picture issues, as well as regular check-ins over text and at the start or end of each day. We recommend Jess without hesitation to any family seeking someone to be a partner with them in caring for and supporting the full development of children.
