About Jhannel

Hi, I'm Jhannel! I'm a full-time nanny, tutor, and pre-K/elementary educator with over a decade of experience with families in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Miami. I hold a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Columbia University Medical Center and a B. S. in Recreation and Sports Management from Florida International University, and I bring that OT-informed lens to everyday care: fine and gross motor skills, sensory needs, and executive functioning, alongside tutoring and homework help. Most recently, I spent eight months with a Manhattan family of three school-aged girls. I helped one child advance one to two grade levels in reading and writing and coached another in planning and task completion. Her family called the progress "hard to overstate." My approach is rooted in Reggio Emilia and Montessori philosophies: child-led, hands-on, and built on partnership with parents. My goal is to help kids build real independence, not just to manage a schedule.
