About Julia

Hello! I am a mom of a 3 yr old daughter, & grad student to be a therapist. I am currently an assistant to an art therapist with Project Create. I have 4+ years of experience teaching. My philosophy is to teach through fun & creativity, engaging kids with acceptance in where they are at, & identifying the core roadblocks to their growth with compassion. Writing, swimming, and photography are my specialty, but I have experience with Spanish, visual arts, and piano, & middle school science and math. I like teaching because I get to know children in a long-term relationship that empowers them to learn their own strength in growing. I was a teacher's aide at a school in Va for 3 months, field hockey coach for 4 months, swim teacher at FOSS for 2 yrs, a youth group leader for 2 yrs, a tutor with Hope Academy for 1 yr, a kids club teacher for 2 yrs, & a Somali Adult Literacy teacher aide for 1 year.
