About Julie

I have three younger sisters, so I was no stranger to kids growing up even being made to participate in a babysitting clinic as an 11-year-old. I have a godson, three nieces, and nephews under 5 that I have babysat many times. I've worked as a teacher, tutor, nanny, and instructor with all ages from toddlers to teens in a variety of settings including daycare, school, discovery centers, homes, and wilderness settings. Depending on the setting and needs, I have cooked, cleaned, tutored/offered homework help, created visual schedules, administered medicine, provided transportation, planned fun activities, and created structure and boundaries. I believe strongly in the power of discovery and love being apart of the learning process for each child. A lens I use in working with kids is that behavior is a form of communicating needs and each child is special and often requires a different approach. I love to play ukulele, draw and cook and learn about others creative pursuits as well.
