I started watching over children when I was 13 as a volunteer in my churches nursery. In high school, I constantly babysat for a family of 5 children, they had 2-year-old twins, a 5 and 6-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl. I would help them with dinner, play games, assist with homework, and get them ready for bed. When I studied abroad, I also volunteered for a children's home, the kids were ages 4-14 and I would assist in arts and crafts, outdoor activities and homework. In college I was a nanny for two families, one with a 5-month-old and the other had 2-year-old twin boys and their 11-month-old baby brother.
