About Kristin

I specialize in creating a language immersion environment for kids, teens, and adults to improve conversational Mandarin (speaking and listening). I work with individual students, especially homeschooled kids and parents to design his/her/their learning and review material. I use Anki, a free and open-source flashcard program. It uses techniques from cognitive science such as active recall testing and spaced repetition to aid the user in memorization. The name comes from the Japanese word for "memorization," to make flashcards after each session for him, her, and them. For advanced learners, I summarize our conversations in a well-written short paragraph using phrases, grammar, and sentence structures to help students review. On top of that, I do audio recordings for students. I customize my sessions with each student.
