About Lavern

Lavern came to us a few years after my mother suffered a stroke along with aphasia, cognitive decline and early stages of dementia. My mother was 88-year-old, and Lavern was her primary, 24-hour caregiver for almost a year. At this point in her life, my mother required a high-level of compassionate, one-on-one care, and Lavern provided this better than any previous caregiver. Although she was only with us a short time, she took complete care of my mother as if she were her own and became a good friend to our family. She helped my mother with all the facets of day-to-day living, this included personal hygiene, toileting, bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, mobility, and medication administration. Lavern also made sure that my mother ate properly and as my mother declined, she mashed and pureed her food and made her protein shakes to ensure good nutrition. She also assisted with getting my mom in and out of the car, accompanied her to doctor’s appointments, and she provided my mother with thoughtful companionship, which was invaluable. Lavern’s caregiving experience and practicality made her a great resource for discussing my mother’s condition and the various options for her care right up to the end. As well as her caregiving skills, Lavern made sure all the laundry was done, the bedding was fresh and kept my mother’s home clean, by vacuuming, mopping and dusting regularly. To describe Lavern is to say she is very patient, extremely caring, and an honest individual. She is highly dependable, trustworthy and willing to help however she can. The care and kindness she showed my mother was amazing and I have no hesitation in recommending her to any family in need of a caring and capable caregiver.
