About Leidy

Hi parents! Leidy cared for my now 3 year old son since he was 6 months old. Having gotten to know her both as a caregiver and friend over the last 2.5 years, I whole-heartedly recommend her. When it was time for me to return to work, I was full of trepidation about finding high quality care for my son. Of course, I cared about his safety most of all. But it was imperative to me that he also feel cared for, happy, and nurtured. From the moment I spoke to Leidy on the phone, my concerns dissolved. She asked detailed questions about his routine that made it clear that she was a professional when it comes to caring for young children. When I had her over for an interview and she met my son, she immediately got down on his level, showed him toys, and showed him books. It was clear that she was comfortable with young children, knowledgeable, and confident. My son instantly recognized it too. He beamed up at her. I knew then that she would be a great fit for our family. These initial instincts were only reinforced over the ensuing 2.5 years that we worked with her. First, safety. Leidy is street smart, generally smart, and attentive. As a natural worrier, it truly speaks volumes that I never once worried for my son’s safety when he was out with Leidy. She’s not a nanny who sits on the park bench while your kid is playing. She allows him to explore/isn’t over bearing, but is at his side when climbing and trying new things in case of a stumble. Second, Leidy put effort into helping my son reach his potential. He learned a lot with her, meeting and even surpassing, quite impressively in some instances, his milestones. She read to him, spoke mostly Spanish with him, and encouraged his interests in music. Now, my son is very verbal in English, has an impressive knowledge of Spanish for a 3 year old, and loves music. I think because he enjoyed spending time/talking with Leidy, it encouraged an interest in learning languages and music- and an organic interest! He learned these things because he enjoyed learning with her- not because of pressure or perfectionism. Third, Leidy is caring and emotionally aware. She sent my husband and I photos throughout the day of my son enjoying classes or playing at the neighborhood park. My son was always happy to see her. She has also proven very adept at helping my son navigate the challenges of toddlerhood- assisting him with transitions, diffusing big feelings, and providing clear guidance with tricky things like sharing and expressing himself accurately but kindly. She comes to me with insightful observations/recommendations, and accepts my guidance in equal measure. It was clear, in fact, that she did her own research to determine how to handle certain behaviors. To reiterate, Leidy is a professional. For me, as a parent these three things are the end all be all. To know that each of these priorities were proactively attended to brought me piece of mind that I couldn’t assign a dollar value to. My husband and I felt incredibly grateful to have found Leidy. She has played an intrinsic part in ensuring that our son had a great start during these formative and important early years. If you have the good fortune to work with Leidy- take good care of her! She is a special person.
