About Leighton

I am a social worker with a rigorous academic foundation that started in the West Indies and continued in NYC. I have 15+ years working with children and teens in their homes, communities, and schools. This experience has taught me how to identify various learning challenges as well as solutions. As a learning coach, I believe that learning a subject is as much about ATTITUDE as it is about SKILL... and MOOD affects attitude and motivation to learn. That is why I focus on teaching students how to adjust their mood and attitude while I teach them to concentrate and learn whatever subject they find challenging. If necessary, I also help students to adjust their environment to make it more conducive to learning.
