About Lindsey

Helping students understand and enjoy math is my passion! With experience as a private tutor, classroom teacher, and university instructor, I have the skills to tutor students from kindergarten through high school. After years as a private tutor and classroom teacher, I am now getting a PhD in Mathematics Education at the University of Michigan. While I love working with college students to help them learn to teach math (my current job), I miss working with children, especially one-on-one. There is nothing as fulfilling to me as when that light bulb of understanding goes off as a child connects ideas and develops new understandings. I am familiar with most major mathematics curricula and the Common Core. My focus is on conceptual understanding--I think people remember things better when they understand them deeply--and I also have experience teaching procedural fluency and test prep.
