About Marie Alana

My passion for educating children started at a very young age, where I would play "teacher" and instruct others, including my stuffed animals. I began working with kids when I was in the 8th grade, where I worked as a Counselor in Training at a summer sports camp. This experience added to my prexisting passion to become an educator one day. I then continued on to work with kids in various school settings, as well as private tutoring. I pursued my Bachelors degree in Childhood Education grades 1-6, as well as my Masters degree in Special Education grades 1-6. Currently, I am in my fourth year as a 5th grade classroom teacher in the diverse landscape of the New York City Department of Education. My expertise as a teacher will be sure to transfer into my one on one instruction with your child. My skills include patience, structure, and kindness. Being an educator and caring for my students has allowed me to adapt to many different needs, personalities, and situations.
