Experience: 10 yrs
I cared for my father for many years as he was managing dementia, helping him to maintain a positive outlook, modified his lifelong interests and passions as well as his physical and cognitive health, including meal prep, bathing, exercise for vitality and balance maintenance, and helping him to reminisce while I wrote a simple memoir of his life. I successfully adapted my 20 years of directing children's programs to provide a balance between joyful, easy and interesting days and my knowledge of senior's needs to a comprehensive individualized program of care and well-being. Recently I have applied the same level of care to 2 seniors with dementia. I would love to learn what works best for your beloved parent and co-create a great caregiving situation with you. I also have done a bit of home health aid work. I am trained as a mind-body health coach, which I would love to weave into my caregiving if desired. I would welcome a situation that includes dementia care and/or hospice care.
I am writing to wholeheartedly recommend Mary Anne C as an at-home caregiver for seniors, especially for those experiencing challenges related to dementia. Mary Anne had a deep understanding of the complexities involved in caring for our almost-90 year old Grandma Ginny, especially regarding her memory challenges and mood issues, when she cared for Ginny at her home from January 2024 to May 2026. Mary Anne approached each situation with patience, empathy, and respect. Her warm demeanor fostered a trusting relationship with Ginny, allowing her to understand Ginny’s needs and points of view and provide support in a way that allowed Ginny to maintain as much of her lifestyle and habits as has been practical. Mary Anne has been adept at assisting Ginny with her daily routine activities, including preparing and serving meals, managing her medications, maintaining her personal hygiene, exercising with her and providing warm and friendly companionship. This allowed our family to trust that Ginny has been in a safe and nurturing environment during the day. Mary Anne supported and sometimes revived Ginny’s interests in crafting, walking, and socializing with her peers. Our family has noticed that this has helped to improve her mood and become more engaged with the world around her. Mary Anne has been dependable, optimistic, cheery, and with a good sense of humor, all of which have contributed to a positive atmosphere for Ginny, her pets and the rest of the family. I believe that Mary Anne’s caregiving would be an invaluable support to the quality of life of any senior. Her commitment to providing exceptional care, together with her skills and experience, make her a great asset for seniors who need support and companionship. Sincerely, Joshua Willems (Grandson)
