Mary Ellen was a miracle that made my father's last days here beautiful, while letting me, his primary caregiver, have a chance to be a daughter instead of his nurse. After the fastest interview and hiring cycle ever (about 24 hours), including a reference check, she came to our home and hit the ground running. She knew exactly how to take care a bedridden, nonverbal patient, showering him with love from the first moment. She also took care of me by establishing a quick trust that my father was in good hands; indeed, more skilled hands. She is pro-active and responsive, without being pushy. Thoughtful; going above and beyond was normal for her. She jumped right in and even extended her hours the first day when I needed them. Highly, highly professional - brought her license without being asked, and kept me informed always. Even though we only had her for my father's last two days here, they were special. As his hospice nurse said, "he looks like a picture of peace". That was due in no small part to Mary Ellen's help and kindness. I took a big chance in hiring her so quickly, but I was desperate to find help, after a dismal failure with an agency. And, even though we only needed her for a short time, those hours were precious.
