We cannot recommend robin. We hired robin to nanny our 4 yr old and 2 month old. After having a phone interview and in person trial run with our 4 yo (that we paid her for), we felt optimistic that she was a good fit for our family. We had several conversations with her about having someone trustworthy that we can rely on, have a long term relationship with and truly be part of our family…we don’t let just anyone watch our kids. She said she understood & respected this. We told her that we were happy to move forward with her as long as she was too, and she said she was excited to work with us. We agreed upon a general schedule and start date. We followed up with her references, while all 3 of them cautioned us that she’s unreliable and called out sick a lot, when we discussed this with her she assured us it wouldn’t be a problem. As her start date approached, I reached out to confirm logistics. She informed us she decided to take a job elsewhere and no longer could nanny with us. This was a huge shock as she never brought this up to us after we hired or ever expressed to us she was exploring other options. Also, it has put our family in a terrible bind since I’m starting my job after my maternity leave and am now without childcare so cannot work. We found this unprofessional, unethical and disappointing.
