About Shakirah

Hello, my name is Shakirah. I have over 20 years of caregiving experience and am currently attending nursing school to become an LPN, with plans to continue into an LPN-to-RN bridge program. My passion for caregiving began at age 17 when I became the primary caregiver for my grandmother, who was bedbound with Multiple Sclerosis. Since then, I have worked in home care, hospice, memory care, oncology, urgent care, PACU, ICU, and rehabilitation settings. I have experience caring for seniors, stroke survivors, individuals with dementia, cardiac conditions, diabetes, autism, and other special needs. Skills include: ADL assistance, dementia care, wound care, wound VACs, catheter care, ostomy care, tracheostomy care, blood draws, EKGs, diabetes management, mobility assistance, companionship, and safety monitoring. My goal is to provide compassionate, dependable care that promotes dignity, independence, and quality of life.
