We employed this nanny for approximately 10 months. While we made a genuine effort to support her transition by providing 6+ weeks’ notice before our child started daycare, she handled her departure in a highly unprofessional manner. She informed us on a Saturday that she would be starting a new position the following Monday, giving us effectively no time to arrange alternative care. More concerning, however, were several safety-related incidents during her employment. On one occasion, we found pieces of broken glass on the kitchen floor and even inside a bowl used to wash our child’s bottles. When asked, she admitted she had broken a glass but failed to properly clean the area or inform us. This level of negligence, especially in an environment with a young child, is unacceptable. Additionally, on her very first day, she fed our one-year-old child from her own food without asking for permission. This demonstrated a lack of understanding of basic boundaries and parental consent, particularly important when it comes to a child’s health and safety. While some issues can happen in any role, the pattern of poor judgment, lack of communication, and disregard for safety protocols is deeply concerning. We strongly encourage other families to clearly communicate expectations upfront and proceed with caution.
