Hello! I'm a secondary level (Grades 7-12) language arts teacher with 15 years in education, as well as 10+ years of previous professional writing experience. I can help your middle school/high school student with reading comprehension and analysis; independent reading strategies; planning, drafting and writing compositions; grammar, usage, and mechanics; and vocabulary. I've taught English Language Arts at every secondary grade level, but have particular experience in ninth grade (6 yrs), eighth grade (5 yrs) and eleventh grade (3 yrs). I regularly work with gifted students, IEP students, and ELL students. My experience also includes teaching an eight-week English as a Second Language (ESL) course for adults. I would be delighted to help your student strengthen their ability to communicate effectively -- a skill that I believe is the foundation of success in all other areas! *I have the full range of teacher-required background checks through my school district.
