I am a graduate of Appalachian State University with a bachelors degree in Child Development (infant/toddler&preschool/kindergarten focus). I have experience with children ages 2 months to 13 years old. Over the past 8 years, I have been a nanny, worked in a variety of childcare settings (including Montessori and Reggio Emilia), taught homeschooling and have been a program assistant at a children's museum. I have over 10 years of experience with caring for children in various settings. My philosophy is based on engaging free-play where children can learn through hands on experiences. I am extremely flexible and willing to work around schedules. I am also available for care needed while traveling. Tess is absolutely amazing! She started helping us with our son 4 months ago when he was 15 months old and continues to assist us intermittently. Our son typically experiences a lot of separation anxiety, especially with unfamiliar people, but Tess won him over from day one! She has an impressive knowledge of child development, milestones, and strategies to foster appropriate skills for a given age. Tess is also highly engaging with our son, always coming up with new, fun, yet educational play ideas that keep him entertained and learning. Her patience, creativity, and genuine care have made a significant positive impact on our son’s growth and happiness. We absolutely love having Tess, and we will continue to welcome her into our home in the future!
