Hello my name is Victoria, I am currently a college student pursuing education. I have just over year of experience with taking care of children, I love to be engaging ensuring they are having a good time. I also enjoy cooking and making sure they are getting all the nutrition's they need to grow. I am capable of doing housework. I am certified in CPR, as well as my certified nursing assistant. I would be honored to care for your loved ones.
Unfortunately, this childcare arrangement ultimately was not the right fit for our family. When we first interviewed, I felt that we had found someone who genuinely enjoyed caring for my children, and my children really enjoyed having her. Over time, however, I felt the arrangement became increasingly transactional. I completely understand that childcare is employment and that a caregiver deserves to be paid fairly and reliably. That was never the issue. My concern was the increasing focus on payment and changes to the expectations around payment after we had already established an every-other-Friday schedule. During the interview, I understood that the specific timing of payment was flexible as long as she was paid. Later, payment became a recurring point of concern, including discussion of changing our payment arrangement and a late-payment fee that had not been part of our original agreement. I also recognize that my own communication was not always as prompt as it could have been. I have a demanding schedule, and there were occasions where I did not respond as quickly as I should have regarding payment. I did ultimately communicate and make the payment, and I understand why that was frustrating. There were also communication and reliability concerns on the childcare side. I had to follow up on multiple occasions regarding my children’s transportation, and there was a last-minute call-out that significantly affected my ability to get to work. I also noticed a pattern of arriving a few minutes after the scheduled start time. While those few minutes did not ultimately prevent me from getting to work under our particular schedule, punctuality could become important for a family with a tighter work schedule. Ultimately, the biggest disappointment was that the arrangement no longer felt like the family-oriented childcare relationship I initially thought we were establishing. She was kind to my children, and they enjoyed having her around, which I genuinely appreciate.
