About Laura

Hello! I am a 31-year-old teacher currently living in Manhattan. I grew up in Upstate New York and attended college in the area. I have always been interested in the education field and working with children. Growing up I spent much of my time babysitting, working at camps, and pursuing this goal of mine! After moving to New York City in 2014, I began working as a first grade teacher. Since then I have taught 1st grade for 7 years. I have taught general education students and students with disabilities in various subject areas. Recently I have become a Learning Specialist and now work with students in Grade K - 4 with various learning needs. I have received additional trainings and certifications in the areas of reading and dyslexia. I am a very passionate educator with a belief that, through patience and an approach that meets the needs of the individual student, every child can feel successful and be excited about learning!
