Experience: 10 yrs
Hi, my name is Rachel. I am a Special Education Teacher with over 10 years of experience working in the Massachusetts Public Schools. I hold a bachelor's degree in Elementary and Special Education from Providence College and a master's degree in Special Education with a certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) from UMass Boston. For five years, I taught students in grades 2 and 3 in Boston with a variety of learning disabilities. I currently teach in a K-1 substantially separate classroom in Newton for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I have experience providing individualized reading and math intervention and have been trained in the Wilson Reading System. I believe in a multisensory, hands-on approach to learning that builds confidence and supports student growth. Working with children of all abilities is truly my passion, and I love helping students reach their goals and building independence while celebrating every success along the way.
Rachel is kind, funny, and absolutely loves children! She is intelligent and extremely knowledgeable when it comes to understanding children and their different needs. Rachel is sweet, thoughtful, and teaches from her heart. She is fantastic and, as a mother myself, I would absolutely recommend her!
