About Sophia

Hi! I'm Ms. Sophie! :-) My main goal when with children (besides for the safety and health of the children) is for children to be heard. I strive to hear children's ideas, stressors, wants, etc - and to apply what I have heard to my care. I believe that play, art, and nature are essential learning tools. I do not believe in using anger or fear as a teaching tool: instead I use conversation, redirection, and modeling. I believe that each child should be seen and respected as an entire person - while also giving attention to areas where adult nurturing is necessary. Professional experience: -Assistant in a kindergarten classroom -Preschool camp counselor -Infant classroom aide -Pre-k practicum -Co-lead teacher for mixed pre-k class (age 10 months - 4 years). Academic credentials: -Bachelor's degree in Psychology, minor in Language Development -Over 30 credit hours of ECE courses -NAEYC trained in assessment and early intervention
